Santa Clarita is in a fast growing part of Los Angeles County. It is the last major suburb north of the City of Los Angeles. It is served by the fast growing Metrolink system. A lot of changes have occured since I visited Santa Clarita in '98.

Just north of the hills of the San Fernando Valley is Santa Clarita. It is surrounded on all sides by hills and is geographically separated from the rest of Los Angeles. San Clarita was originally a collection of farming communities called Valencia (as in Valencia Orange), Saugus, and Newhall. Newer suburban communities of Canyon County and Friendly Valley have also been developed.

Note: This bus line has been replaced with a extension of route 4

During the midday, when Metrolink does not go to Lancaster, a few Santa Clarita Transit Buses connect with trains ending at Santa Clarita. Using interstate buses like the MCI is unusual for a local transit agencies.

Metrolink or no Metrolink, Santa Clarita buses pick up passenger is in downtown L.A. Using Metro Red line and Metrolink is faster, but more expensive and less frequent.
