The Balboa Island Ferry provides frequent service from Balboa Island to Balboa Peninsula, a distance of about mile (0.5 km). While it is possible to drive or ride the bus around, the distance is about 5 miles (7km) and it takes much longer. Three ferries (Captain, Commodore, and Admiral) shuttle people and cars from Balboa Peninsula and Balboa Island. (Thank you, Jeannie)

On the peninsula side, there are connections to OCTA 71. On the the northern side, there is about 1 mile (1.5 km) walk to Jamboree and Bayside where OCTA 55 stops.
